Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Vomberg elected as new Chairwoman

Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Vomberg is the new Chairwoman of the Association for the Promotion of Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V., while Prof. Dr. Anja Steinbeck moves to Deputy Chairwoman. The role reversal, officially completed on 13 May 2022, emphasizes the association’s idea of flexible cooperation and networking at eye level.

“inside iSem” – the short podcast for the innovation semester is here!

The Innovation Semester (iSem) format, which is unique in Germany, will take place for the fourth time in 2022/23 and will be accompanied by the new podcast “inside iSem”. In the first episode, available on our homepage and Spotify, Managing Director Dr. Kai de Weldige introduces the association and provides insights into the projects. Interested course instructors can submit their project proposals until June 20, 2022.

Gregor Berghausen named “Düsseldorf resident of the year 2021”

Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. congratulates Gregor Berghausen on being named “Düsseldorf Business Person of the Year 2021” in the business category. Berghausen, IHK Managing Director, was honored for his outstanding achievements and support during the corona pandemic. We appreciate his commitment and are delighted with this well-deserved recognition.

Recruiting film of Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. launched

Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. presents its new recruiting film, which shows how attractive the region is for international young researchers. The film emphasizes the diversity and proximity of educational institutions and the high quality of life in Düsseldorf. The aim is to counteract the shortage of skilled workers and attract young researchers to the region. Watch the movie here.

New faces in the knowledge region

Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. welcomes two new members in the first quarter of 2022: Kreissparkasse Düsseldorf and Verein Deutscher Zementwerke e.V. Katrin Schömann Hölzl joined the office in February. Dr. Michael Rauterkus takes over the representation of the state capital Düsseldorf on the association’s board from Burkhard Hintzsche.

Thank you for the great cooperation – and full confidence in the new AG work

The turn of the year 2021/22 brings a change in the office of the Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. association. After four years, Dr. Christina Rauh says goodbye and thanks for the great cooperation. With Dr. Kai de Weldige, her successor, Keiko Ito and Miriam Braun, a strong team of supporters is now in place. The past few weeks have shown the new strength of the association, and many exciting projects will follow.

Düsseldorf Welcome Day shows perspectives

The first Welcome Day for international Master’s students in the Wissensregion Düsseldorf took place on November 23. 15 students were welcomed by Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller. The aim is to retain international students as skilled workers after they graduate. Supported by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and companies, they were given valuable career insights and networking opportunities.

A firm eye on the international scene

Wissensregion Düsseldorf is becoming increasingly international. The association’s website is now also available in English. The first Welcome Day for international Master’s students took place with 15 participants, and a new recruiting film will be released soon. International events such as the FISU World University Games 2025 and the UEFA EURO 2024 are further strengthening the region.

BIWENAV goes NRW

The educational pathway navigator “BIWENAV” was successfully introduced in Düsseldorf and has now also been adopted in Wuppertal, Remscheid and soon Oberhausen. The online tool bundles educational offers and helps young people to find their own educational pathways. Thanks to supra-regional cooperation, BIWENAV is being continuously improved and expanded to other cities.

Also works digitally: Come & Cooperate Vol. 3

The third edition of Come & Cooperate took place on November 3, 2021. The cooperation format of IHK Düsseldorf, DUS+ME innovativ and Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. brought universities and companies together virtually. In pre-matched discussions, approaches for bachelor theses, funding applications and cooperations were successfully explored. The feedback was consistently positive.

Chancengipfel 2021: Opportunities, prospects and career options in the knowledge region

The first digital “Chancengipfel” took place on the initiative of Andreas Schmitz, President of the IHK Düsseldorf. Participants included the IHK, Chamber of Crafts, City of Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Heinrich Heine University and FOM University of Applied Sciences. Despite corona, there are many training and study opportunities in the region. 3,200 apprenticeships are still available in Düsseldorf and the Mettmann district. The stakeholders encouraged school leavers to explore all prospects and career options and offered their support.

Strategy process of the Wissensregion Düsseldorf

Wissensregion Düsseldorf e.V. has been analyzing its work since autumn 2020. Thanks to everyone for their feedback in surveys and interviews. The results are incorporated into a strategy report. In 2021, the strategic routes will be discussed in working groups and transferred into a new direction for 2021-2025 in a central workshop.
