Eight inspiring project ideas 23.03.2023 – Around 80 students, trainees and professionals from Düsseldorf and the surrounding area took part in the Wissensregion Düsseldorf’s fourth innovation semester in the winter semester 22/23.
At the final event on March 23, they presented the ideas they had developed in the university building.
The team from the course “BREWNO – Brew your own Altbier” won this year’s prize for the best project.
The teams were supported by experts from Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Fliedner University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf and Henkel.
“In my opinion, the insight to learn from people who think differently from ourselves and the associated openness to people is one of the core competencies of our time. It is the core idea of the Association for the Promotion of the Wissensregion Düsseldorf!” said Prof. Edeltraud Vomberg, Chairwoman of the Board of the Association for the Promotion of the Wissensregion Düsseldorf, in her welcoming address.
“That’s why I hope that even on a small scale, from your discussions in your courses, in the development of your results, now that you have completed this innovation semester, you will take at least this one thing with you for your further educational path, your career and your life: being and remaining open to the ideas and ways of thinking of others.” “I am impressed by how many committed young people in the Wissensregion Düsseldorf took part in this Innovation Semester,” said Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller. Gregor Berghausen, Managing Director of IHK Düsseldorf, also confirmed this in his closing remarks: “We are proud to support the final results and to present an award to the best team of this innovation semester.”
This went to the project “BREWNO – Braue dein eigenes Altbier” (Brew your own Altbier), led by Prof. Jörg Becker-Schweitzer, Patrick Blättermann and Thomas Zipf from Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, as voted for by the jury, in which three member institutions of Wissensregion Düsseldorf were represented. In a short film, the team presented the path that the participants have taken together within the project. They not only learned about the biochemical and technical processes of brewing and developed their own “Summer Ale”, but also presented their own marketing concept.
The home-brewed Altbier could be tasted after the final and was also convincing in taste.
