Together with the district of Mettmann and the Rhine district of Neuss, the city of Düsseldorf forms the core of a region that generates knowledge to a particularly high degree.
Hardly anywhere else is there such a high density of different universities, institutions and companies that work with knowledge or produce knowledge themselves.
The various institutions are already cooperating today – at events and in joint projects. Düsseldorf, Mettmann and Neuss want to become even more successful in future as a large-scale location for knowledge-oriented companies and institutions.
The economic strength of the cities and districts is already having a positive effect in the competition for the best talent, knowledge-based companies and attractive offers for the citizens of the region.
“We are a very economically strong region. In order to maintain this strength, remain competitive and be able to use and promote potential, sustainable cooperation between science and business is a success factor. Recruiting skilled workers is not only important for every company, but also for the future of the entire region. Well-positioned companies are the basis for prosperity in our region,” says Thomas Hendele, District Administrator of Mettmann.
At the Wissensregion Düsseldorf kick-off conference on February 13, 2017, ideas for even more intensive cooperation will be developed, focusing on topics such as business and science.
“Neuss offers the best conditions for good education. We place particular emphasis on networking the business and education sectors,” says Hans Jürgen Petrauschke, District Administrator of Rheinkreis Neuss.
And: “As Neuss, we are very interested in expanding a joint regional knowledge region and can contribute a great deal to a joint knowledge region,” the District Administrator continues.
The goal is clear: all three municipalities will expand the local cooperation between science and business for the benefit of their citizens – and perhaps even break new ground in the process.
