This is accompanied by funding advice, advice from innovation coaches and advice on property rights.
Night of Science
The Night of Science is a fascinating event organized by Heinrich Heine University that brings science and research closer to the general public in an innovative and interactive way.
This event has a special significance in the Wissensregion Düsseldorf, as it allows people of all ages to experience science up close and outside of traditional academic spaces.
Innovation course
The innovation course pursues the core idea of interdisciplinarity under the motto: “We can learn best from people who think differently.” The course is aimed at anyone who wants to develop innovative ideas and entrepreneurial skills. Participants work on prototypes and business models in a practical environment, thereby promoting their creativity and self-efficacy. The course therefore offers an ideal platform for anyone who wants to turn their visions into tangible projects and strengthen the culture of innovation in the region.
Welcome Day 2023
The second Welcome Day for international students and researchers in Düsseldorf took place on December 5, 2023 at the Tech.Hub Düsseldorf.
Christian Zaum welcomed 30 participants from various universities and research institutions.
The aim is to keep international talent in the region.
Dr. Kai de Weldige emphasized the importance of career prospects.
Supported by the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce and companies such as Henkel and the Max Planck Institute, the participants gained valuable insights into the job market and networked.
The day ended with a visit to the Christmas market in the old town.
Come & Cooperate Vol.5
Wissensregion Düsseldorf, together with the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Düsseldorf Innovation and Technology Center (Ditec), hosted the Come & Cooperate event at LAVAStudio on 8 November 2023.
Companies and universities took the opportunity to get to know potential cooperation partners and talk about joint projects, theses or funding.
Despite some last-minute cancellations, more than 80 direct talks were organized – a record that shows the great need for such a technology transfer format.
Implementation of an innovation course
Unfortunately, we had to cancel the Innovation Semester 2023 due to an uneven distribution of applications.
Some courses were oversubscribed, others were hardly in demand, which contradicts the interdisciplinary objectives.
Nevertheless, we are continuing an “innovation course” that strengthens entrepreneurial skills and motivation, led by Prof. Michael Friebe and Inga Hennrich.
Innovation semester 2023/24
The fifth Innovation Semester of the Wissensregion Düsseldorf starts on October 25, 2023 at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
With eight projects that combine knowledge and sustainability, the semester aims to bring about positive change.
Diverse participants work on sustainable solutions such as environmentally conscious mobility and urban design.
Applications are open until September 30.

The application phase for course instructors for the “Innovation Semester 2023/24” has begun.
Submit your project ideas by June 16!
Take the opportunity to implement innovative projects with interdisciplinary teams.
You can win project funding of up to €750, teaching time or remuneration.

A film team documented the event, showing the diversity of the projects and the creative solutions of the participants.
The winning team was particularly impressive with a self-made video about their brewing process and collaborative work.
Final of the Innovation Semester of the Wissensregion Düsseldorf
On March 23, 2023, around 80 participants in the fourth innovation semester of Wissensregion Düsseldorf presented their projects at the university building.
The team “BREWNO – Brew your own Altbier” won the prize for the best project.
Eight courses covered a wide range of topics, supported by experts from Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, Fliedner University of Applied Sciences and Henkel.
Prof. Edeltraud Vomberg and Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller praised the commitment and openness of the participants.
